History. Portmeirion Pottery began in when pottery designer Susan Williams-Ellis (daughter of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, who created the Italian-style Portmeirion Village in North Wales) and her husband, Euan Cooper-Willis, took over a small pottery-decorating company in Stoke-on-Trent called A.
Gray Williams-Ellis had been working with A.E. Gray for some years, commissioning. Portmeirion was founded in by the legendary pottery designer Susan Williams-Ellis and her husband Euan Cooper-Willis. Susan sadly passed away in November but her philosophy of creating collections that are not only beautiful but also functional and affordable lives on at Portmeirion.
